For Veterinarians

Thank you for entrusting us with the care of your patient

Prior to having your patient schedule with us, we recommend performing:

  • a physical examination

  • collecting a complete blood count, chemistry with SDMA, T4 and urinalysis (if safe to do so)

If these tests have been performed in the past 6 months and the behavioral issue PREDATES the last physical examination and diagnostics, these tests do not need to be repeated prior to their intake and veterinary behavior evaluation.

Here’s what your client can expect while working with us

Vet to Vet Teleconsultations

This service is available to veterinarians around the world.

If you are a veterinarian that would like to discuss the use of medical therapy for one of your behavior patients, have a behavior patient that needs immediate triage, or would like to expand your behavior medicine skillset, contact us to schedule a Vet to Vet teleconsultation.

What’s included in the Vet to Vet teleconsultation:

Appointments are conducted by phone or Zoom video conferencing and will be held between the attending veterinarian and Dr. Ballantyne. Given the limited time available and absence of a VCPR between Dr. Ballantyne and your client, your client should not be present for this appointment.

  • Appointments are 15-30 minutes and including a discussion of the case and review of treatment options which may include medications, safety and management strategies, or simple behavior modification techniques. Advanced training techniques are outside of the scope of what we can cover during these appointments.

  • These appointments are typically available within 1-2 weeks of the request, making this ideal for cases needing immediate triage.

  • You, the primary care veterinarian, remain ultimately responsible for all treatment decisions, including prescriptions, behavioral management, and follow-up care. You can send simple follow-up questions directly to Insight following a Vet-to-Vet consultation. Insight cannot however communicate directly with your client regarding follow-up questions and will be redirected to your office should they reach out.

  • Vet to Vet teleconsultations do not include a written summary of treatment recommendations or evaluation of the patient records or videos outside of the consultation.

  • There is no paperwork to complete prior to scheduling this consultation.

Pricing

  • $125

  • The veterinary clinic or veterinarian will pay Insight Animal Behavior Services, P.C. the cost of the consultation online at the time of booking. We cannot accept payment directly from your client.
